ARTnews "His urban tower pictures are tours de force..remarkable: the visual splendor and scale of New York are transported into the gallery- the sparkling lights, the shadowy interiors, the frozen brilliance - making it into a kind of modern Venice on the Hudson". - Lawrence Campbell

".. where his lofty spaces meet the earth...his delight in painting comes through the play of light over surfaces, like the glass and steel of the World Trade Center." New England Art Journal

Lucien Day painted and photographed many New York City buildings many of them while the buildings were under construction, his paintings capture a time in history. Lucien Day has painted landscapes and portraits. Here is an excerpt on perspective from the Hudson River Museum book; The World is Round " The earth is curved beneath our feet. The biosphere encases it, and each of us lives in a world of visual experience, part earth, part biosphere, something of the free multifaceted endlessness of reality is suggested by the curve..."
